No sailing weekend

I went early to Access to get butt connectors for the washdown pump.  I had to hunt down some cream cheese for the smoked salmon I had.

Daniele got to the club before I did.

I helped Amanda and Robin with a C&C 33 at the fuel dock.  They just launched and was having some engine problems.  They told me someone at PCYC was looking for a C&C 27 (Not Bruce).

At 7, a small storm came in and by 7:30, we were not keen on leaving.  Did not want to push our luck with Daniele after last week's successful weekend.  We bbq hamburger.

The Nova Kool guy suggested we move the thermostat bulb to the colder plate because our icebox was better insulated than normal.  It seemed to work.

Saturday we had bacon and eggs.

There was no wind so we oiled the teak and I finished the wash down pump wiring.  At first it was not priming. I thought it might have been a kick in the intake, but after manually forcing the valve in the anchor locker

Saturday night we had a lousy supper at Barbie's (never again) and Daniele went home for her mass and I slept at the boat. Julie-Hélène returned a screw driver, missing the Philips bit.  I told her and she said she would bring it back the next time, but she make a special trip to return it 15 minutes later.  She was very tired but I guess she felt back since she could not move the boat without my generous loaning of the tools to get her boat started.

Sunday Chris, Norm and I were supposed to try sailing in the morning, but there was no wind so we cancelled.  I waxed Cygnus and helped Norm put up the genoa and then did the nautical flea market.

Lovely long weekend san vent - cleaning boat

Primary DC panel
Daniele took an extra long weekend.

We did our groceries at IGA, packed the boat.

We finished the wiring of the electrical panels.

Daniele didn't really want to depart but I did.  She was glad that we did. Had a nice night at Dowkers near Andre. We tried the sails a bit but wanted to get there before sunset.

The nice fish froze so we had something else I could not remember.  Nice evening.  Lazy Saturday.  We eventually took off and tried to sail for a bit but the wind died. We anchored far from the sandbars and went for a swim (May 21) and decided to go explore the Chateauguay river which was very nice.  Had 12 foot of water with an occasional 7.5 feet.  We went almost to the bridge and came back an anchored south of the Active Captain anchorage.  There was some wood debris near the sanctioned anchorage. Had a nice steak supper.

The current kept us facing south and we put a "spare" anchor light at the stern.

The next day was windless, so we washed waxed and polished the cockpit.

Steven had called to see Cygnus so we planned it for Monday.  We got to the dock an hour early so we pumped out and changed the anchor light to LED.

Showed Steven the boat and then we went back to the dock.  I finished waxing the cockpit and had the sausages.  I think we had the salmon for lunch.

Tuesday was windless so we washed, polished and waxed the topside.

Then we drove to Daniele's on Tuesday night.

Launch and sail

I showed up at 6:45 to install the lifeline screws and prepared the boat for an 8:30 launch

Norm came out to help me launch.  We launched and docked the boat. I forgot to open the fuel cock and the engine stalled and I quickly opened the fuel cock and restarted.  Had an exciting docking.

Norm suggested a sail later, so I installed the head sail and main and norm showed up about 4:30 in the afternoon and hoisted me on the bosun chair to untangle the lazy jack

We set out with the Laser 28 fleet, sailed close haul to Baie-d'Urfe and a beam reach back.  Before the gut, it was getting slow and cold and we started up the iron sail to get back to the club for the bar menu.

Note the drive chain was making noise - especially when turning.  It was more of a knock than the vibration in previous years.
