Friday Fun Race with David

I took the bike to the office to clean the credenza and picked up the new mainsail for Strathcona.

Installed the mainsail and Jimmy helped fold and stow the sail.

David Jimmy and I had a nice light wind sail to the start.  The fleet arrived late and we only did a single triangle.  David was a new member, learning to race.

We were late for the dining room so everyone went home and Chris and I had some chicken aboard Bellum.  He had sailed with Nancy.

Peter raced on Gaucho with Audrey and Maud.  We had fun playing tag with her.

Wednesday on Slow Dancer

On Wednesday, I was lingering around the club, got stung by what I think was a bee on the toe - on the lawn.  Not feeling too great.

I was reviewing what was needed for the cradle pads, evaluating the charging of Cygnus batteries and Brian invited me to sail on Slow Dancer with Scott and John.  I went sailing as Scott was tuning Slow Dancer's rigging.

Later on, we did Wednesday night Adult Sailing, practising Anchoring with Tony and Eric.  We grounded and got out without problems.

I gave V a lift home.  Thursday was a rain day.

Sunset sail with Syvlie

After taking a short nap. I got up and saw a squall warning for lake St. Louis.  A line of rain was coming in from the North West on the radar map.  Without the squall warning, I would not have thought much about it.

Sylvie showed up and we decided to wait out the squall. We went to see her new Fintail. Very nice boat.  I tried to talk her into going VC-17, but she wanted to go with green CSC.  In the end, there was no CSC in stock and she went with VC-17.

Frank from PCYC called to let us know that the race was delayed due to the storm warning.  I passed the message to Smoke on the Water and to Richard who passed it on the other racers.  Smoke on the Water Had already gone out.

Sylvie and I sat it out in the cabin and when the rain stopped, we went out for a nice sail, watched the race and had sunset sail back.

Tuesday Sailing

After delivering Cat Condo to Lindsay's I took the car to the club and did the Monday night Adult Sailing.  A nice evening of sailing into the sunset.

I slept aboard and Tuesday looked story in the late afternoon. About noon, I took Bellum out with the intention of sleeping aboard at anchor.  As I sailed to Dowkers and Grand Anse, the storm looked like it was coming in later.  I decided to sail some more and Sylvie wanted to race, so I decided that it would be better to sit out the rain at the club so I went back to the dock and took a nap

Disappointment at Duggan Cup

I worked hard at trying to make the Duggan Cup race a race to Soulange but low water and concerns about the condition of the walls at Soulange as well as low water and not desiring to anchor caused us to race on Lake St. Louis only.

Disappointing.  But it was good racing.

At 9h30 I was the only person who showed up.  My crew showed up late.  Jason said he could race Fugu at 1PM.  Luc called Patrick to convince him to come.

We started at 1PM near AD14.  Sylvie had assumed it was a Pursuit race and assumed Jason would let her in but Jason was also starting.  Sylvie was over early.

Bellum moved well and led the pack but the handicap placed us a second.  The racing time was about 2 1/2 hours.

We decided to raft up at the bay near the club for protection from North East.

Sylvie had picked up a lot of weed but Patrick had to dive into 20-degree water to de-weed.  We rafted up had some wine, supper and drafted.

Tara II hit a rock and sat on the rock overnight.  The next morning when Luc came out with a club boat to tow him out.

Jimmy Maud and I had breakfast and lounged around at anchor until 4ish when we motored back to the club, had a  pump out and everybody returned home.

Nice night at Valois Bay

Winds were light.  Sylvie cancelled the Thursday GNS cos her sister was visiting.

So I took advantage to go spend the night at anchor.  Packed the dinghy with me and departed at 3:40. I tacked through the channel and sailed to Pointe-Claire church when the winds died  I drifted around and at 5:30, I started the engine and anchored at Valois Bay and took the dinghy to tour Venture. All the boats had masts.

Exactly as forecast, the night was rocky with winds from the North gusting to 26.  At 7h40 it was challenging to pull anchor and rocky ride back to the club.  I had an easy docking with the dinghy alongside, northeast wind and a well-sheltered harbour.

FFR with Andrei and Greg s

My crew was limited.  Only Andrei had confirmed.  Greg wanted to join us as we were walking to the dock Andrie had very limited experience. ...
