weekend at the sandbars - No Annual Regatta

Daniele came to the club late Friday night.  Next morning we there was practically no winds so I opted to skip the Annual Regatta. "The winds were light but finally 2 races were held with over 17 boats participating.  It was definitely an exercise in patience but still a nice way to spend part of the long weekend."

We packed up the two Kayaks and set sail for the Sand Bars.  We set up the cockpit tent and kayaked towards the seaway.  I was hungry so we came back and I had one of Jimmy's cup cake.

Fugu, Zig Zag and Dissidence were floating around too.

Supper was half a pressed chicken cooked slowly with half tomatoes and potatoes.  Nice sunset.

Sunday started slow and nice.  We napped and then took off in nice 10-13 knots of winds with just the headsail and the two kayaks to Baie d'Urfie and back.  On the way back, one kayak got swamped.

Got back to the harbour and we hauled the kayak out and drained it.  Also removed the waterline tape from Talllisman IV.

We worked until late and got home with two cars to omelettes and beer.

Nice weekend.

Friday fun race NOT plus St Jean fireworks

Daniele was at a party.

I went to club and went out at 4ish with Jimmy and Tilda.  Tilda prepared a delightful supper for all of us and more.

We motored to the Gut and sailed around waiting for RC to come out. Tara II was anchored at the sand bars waiting too.

Apparently the race was cancelled due to lack of winds.  "Bull feathers".  It was one of the nicest light wind sailing in a long time.  We did several easy tacks going back and forth.  Fugu and Ginger came out and had a wonderful time

We anchored outside PCYC watching great fireworks.

Friday no race, sail past

Daniele and I departed the harbour early to take an advantage of the day and so that Daniele could take a nap.

Winds were about 4 knots.  We motored to the channel and put up the main and sailed to .4 NM from the gut and we slowed to a crawl. Auto Pilot worked very well.

Mink was short a life jacket and came around to borrow one from us.

We motored to the race area and eventually the race was cancelled due to lack of wind.

So we set out to Dowkers and decided to go to the sandbars.  Winds were supposed to pick up a 9 and then die, which is what it did.

It was a nice evening. Almost the longest day of the year. It was still light when we went to bed.

Next day I was not feeling well.  We sat around. We BBQ some American pork ribs that were too salty.  (later they were pretty good when they were reheated)

Got back to the harbour on Saturday night and washed the deck and did the Woody Wax,  It was slippery when wet.  When it dried, she seemed fine and was very clean.  We saw on AIS that Redline was at Dowkers.

On Sunday morning Daniele went to her fathers for Fathers Day and Benoit for supper.  I stayed and cleaned the locker a bit and some boat work.

We went out for sailpast with Jimmy, Tilda and Elise on Naomi and had supper with the Pearls. Diana cancelled due to forecasted winds.

Wednesday race in light winds

Lady of Dover returns
Daniele picked me up and we took St Patrick to the club.  We picked up the 2HP motor on the way.

Daniele tried to nap as I took down the furled sail and prepare the 155.

Jimmy showed up and we took off in very light winds. We blew the horn as Lady of Dover came in.

Jimmy helmed as Daniele and I orchestrated the rig to come in third in very light winds. For some reason Talisman IV DNC.

Nice evening. Daniele and I stayed for supper.  MLM and Norm dropped by after their graduation ceremony.

Daniele and I slept aboard and went to work in the morning.

rewired again

Weather was louisy, so I went to the boat and did a lot of work, mostly rewiring the ground barrier strip and screwed down straps for the cockpit table (at 1:30 AM).  Sept on boat.

Early weekend at Le Grand ANSE

Friday winds
Daniele was very tired after the concert and took Friday off.

We left for the club after doing groceries at Arkavan.  Sailed off towards Dowkers, doing a couple of loops around Pointe Claire.

We decided to spend the night at Le Grande Anse, were we have been told we can find Flirtation.  Sure enough, she came along after we anchored.

Supper was a large flap steak after standard prise to Bushmill.
Friday windless

Saturday was windless and we just vegetated - swimming, hammock, umbrella and more... Daniele was not feeling well enough to go to O'Neil's party.Supper was emergency spaghetti with garlic and oil.

We got up early on Sunday to motor back to the club at 15 degrees C.  Wind was from the west.

Wonderful weekend.

First Wednesday Race

I was keen on cycling to the club.  I carved out he starboard for the auto-pilot at the club ship using Pierre's grinder.

We went out in very light winds thinking we probably would not race.  We were Jimmy, Chris and James and yours truly.

I packed the 155 but was too lazy to put it on.  James and Chris showed up just before 5:30 making it hard to put up the 155 with just Jimmy.  Norm was right (this time)

James has very little sailing but was fun and entertaining and too the photos and videos in this blog entry.

Chris took the helm.  winds picked up and we did come in second in our fleet.

Keith tried to barge us out at the start line...

The new whisker pole did very well.  Need to mark the pole with the positions for each head sail and maybe the configuration of the sails.

We came in second and had a great BBQ at the club.
