Tuesday with Sylvie and Spencer

On Monday, I came to the club to help put the mast up on Shark 6.  Then I returned to NDG for Paradyme Fitness.

On Tuesday I came to the club with a bike trailer of stuff for the Nautical flea market on Sunday

Maud was taking care of her father.  I did not look for a crew.  I was going to anchor out.

Bob invited me to sail but Sylvie O was there with Spensor, an 11-year-old kid who Syvle was supposed to take out.  Sylvie needed more confidence to go out on her own.  So I took them out on Bellum.  It looked windless, but as we got into the channel, we were able to beam to the race course and sailed around taking photos of the race with the zoom and the drone.

Had great difficulties landing the drone in strong winds with all the rigging and a moving landing pad.

We sailed back to the club at about 8. We Had a great time.

I grilled my steak and potatoes and slept aboard.  Wednesday, I bike to see Laura L and then bike to Laval to visit Binmart which was closed. Wednesday was a long hot day.

SKS certification. May 27-28

We spent a long Saturday and Sunday doing the SKS certification

This was a long process for me to renew my First Aide - CPR, criminal background check, Complete Sport Canada approved Safe Sport Training, ...

There were tons of COB, Heave-to, docking, motor study, and a fair amount of single-handed work.

When teaching, never leave the winch handle in the winch, never wrap the line around the hand, and never walk leeward side of the boat, ....

The boat was a Jeanneau Sunshine 1986 - Frission 1.  It was in rough shape.  I guess a nicer boat would be easily damaged by students.

I took their offer to sleep aboard the weekend.

It was a very tiring weekend.  Good hot weekend.  Would have been good for Bellum at anchor.

FFR No 1 with Jocelyne and Andrea

After getting up early, I studied for SKS and then biked to the yoga and then came back to the club.

I showed Ryan how to start the engine for the SKS weekend.

Jocelyne and Andrea crewed.

We had a poor start because I did not hear the radio or sound. Too much chatter in the cockpit.

After the race, I came home and prepared the SKS until 2 in the morning and then got up at 6 to Ryan's to drive me to Beauharnois for the final SKS certification..

Supper at the club and slept aboard

Tuesday race with Maud and Mark S2 R1

After a frustrating day with the club general manager trying to get key access to the club that works,

We launched Redline and motored around to normalize the new GPS think and motored down the channel before returning to the club.  Norm decided not to race tonight.

Mark and Maud came out for the first Tuesday Race.

Motored to the race area, expecting no winds, the wind picked up to 7 knots and we put up the sail, and did a few tacks before the race.

Okay start halfway down the line but was dragged to last place again.

Supper with Maud and Mark at the club and I biked back.

Brian hit a shark and Just Now had an injury sending Suzie to the hospital

Adult Sailing practise

Ryan, Laura, Alfie and Gabriel came out at 1:30 to 3:40 to practise for the SKS training next weekend.

Winds were very variable.  We practised various points of sail, heave-to, COB.  MFD kept falling off with the new mounting system.  Back to the Rammount.

Before the sailing, I updated the DC-DC charging system, installed a Patrick's duck can bucket under the fuel water separator, updated the Fusion wiring and retightened the wiring of the ITC-5.  The depth sensor had been intermittent.

I went to install the new Radar reflector and tried to do a pump out but the pump out was out of service.

After the sailing, I biked home on an almost dead battery and went to the Cinema Society movie night.

Bucket List for Lena

Martine had a cousin Francine who's daughter had sailing on her bucket list.  Friday was a great day to fulfill her wish.  Departed at 1 and returned at 3:40 in very varible winds from zero to 12 knots and direction from east to south to west so we motored out of the /club and sailed all points to Beaconsfield and back.  Lena helmed and was better than some of my students.

It was great sailing.  Roger made a video of our impeccable departure from the dock.

Bellum inspired by Lena

I installed the new Fusion radio in the morning and I prepared a shared directory for Pat's wake and investigated using the club TV for the wake.

Audrey and I did the FFR seminar and I had supper with Rod at the club.

Thursday race - GNS warm up

Norm, Sylvie and Kathleen joined us for an early departure for our first race of the year.

Norm had a sore back, so he helmed.  This was Kathleen's third time sailing.

We forgot to pre-order supper and Norman and I ended up having supper at Ye Old Orchard.

I slept aboard

No race. cold, (possibly wet)

It was a dark and stormy afternoon.  Was supposed to clear up at six.  It did.  But we cancelled.  I had work to do.  Maud needed to visit her father.  Sylvie was not eager.

It turned out to be a calm evening with a nice sunset, but cold.

It seems that three boats showed up

Sunday at Grand Anse

I drove to the club at 4.  Was going to Rockaberry's for a get together, but it got late so I sailed to Grand Anse for the night and had the other duck leg.

It was a cold night and the next day I got back to the club.

Grand Anse and ...

After sailing with Rachel and family, I set off at 7 with a north wind beamed to Grande Anse and spent the night there with emergency rations - Confrit Canard and rice and baby bak choy.

Overnight was 6 degrees overnight but the winter comforter was quite cozy.

Departed at 8 to return to the club in oscillating winds from North to West to East and back.

Worked on the boat Sunday, installed head sails on Denise boat and later went out the Burger Town with Denise and then slept on the boat.

Monday, I helped Sylvie launch OS and it was cold and windy.  I did not want to bike so I wired the DC-DC charger to the Telecom Battery box and ignition circuit.

At two, I biked home shopping for Lobster.  Did not find any.

Rachel, Daina and Barry

On Wednesday morning I biked and helped Sylvie polish and wax OS

On Thursday I washed and polished the topside of Bellum.  The Shurhold buffer was small and great for the anti-skid.    Afterwards, Audrey gave me a lift home.

On Friday we had Tonip's service and Audrey drove me back to the club and I washed polished and waxed the cockpit.

------------

Saturday was a nice windy day of sailing with Rachel, Daina and Barry.  Sailed from 10 to 3.

We had lunch at anchor between BYC and the church

Rachel helmed most of the day.

First two nights out

At 4PM, I motored out to the Gut and tacked across the lake to anchor at Dowkers.  Nobody here.

Spent two nights at anchor -  anchored deep with seasonal high waters.  Had fun with the drone. The second night was not planned.

Got a lot of rest and studied SKS.

The temperature went down to 8 at night.  Quite comfortable.  A few bugs came out Sunday.,

And the upcoming week looks fantastic too
