Propeller - trials and tribulations

We have always had a knocking on the drive train when turning under power

Daniele did not want to go on our trip until we fix the problem.  Now we think the problem is the propeller.  We hauled out last week to put in another propeller and that propeller was very quiet.  Teh propeller was small and had very little drive.

I bought an identical propeller from Newfoundland on Kijiji and it was worse than the one I had. The teeth were corroded and there was more movement on the blades.

So I just hauled her out to put in the old prop propeller on.

We might not go to Quebec City... may we will ...  will go out sailing a little more and then (she will) decide.  Maybe just Sorel ... we shall see.

When Bill originally removed the set screw the nut was finger loose. So we wonder if that might have given it some movement. When he re-installed the nut he turned it with the socket until it was tight and then he had to add a 1/2 turn to get the set screw hole to align. Which is normal method, so perhaps this did something.
