Anchor, Chilly Bowl Race, Vaclav’s mechoui and those crazy Russians

After Yoga with Shiela, I motored to PCYC to pick up Eric and Scarlett for the Chilly bowl race.

The next two weeks are supposed to be fantastic weather.

I never got my email for the start time for the Chilly Bowl race.  Eric did. It looked like there were only four boats, but there were many more.  The winds forecast were to be very light.  I bought along the spinnaker to play with if there was no race.

Eric's email

We changed head sail from the 135 to 155 to accomdate the light winds forecasted.

RC was not really with it .. not paying attention when I tried to register or confirm my registration.  The race was postphoned with the postponement flag, but the horn signal was a single horn instead of the customary two horn

Eventually the race started.  I had the wrong firt mark and I realized that when the fleet was heading west and I thought the first mark was 31 to the east. My start time of scratch boat plus 12 minutes and 60 seconds  <sic> but it was well timed.

Scarlett helmed the first couple of marks and then Eric took over.  Eric does not listen to instructions, deviates the steering and keeps trying to see marks that marks that were too far to see with the naked eye.  He does not trust the crew for collision avoidence.  We eventually finished, last.

We had supper at PCYC's Vaclav’s mechoui Pig Roast.  I have been trying to get to this event for years without success.  I finally made it to this prestigages event.

We watched the GNS races.

We sailed, swam, picnic, sailed and return the guest to PCYC.

I escorted them out and then had to move Bellum since she was blocking Perscrption from leaving the harbour.

Full moon coming

Monday's forecast was 15 knots so I decided not to take that with the 155 so I came back to the club.
